Therapeutic Saunas

Therapeutic sauna is the use of a sauna to convey health benefits. The blood pressure is always increased with the cooling of the body by immersion in cold water, the cardiac workload of a sauna is considered to be half that of walking. Sauna may alleviate asthma and chronic bronchitis, as it opens the airways, and may also alleviate pain and improve joint mobility in patients with rheumatic disease. Whilst the skin is hot inside the sauna the blood flow is outward to cool the body, when the cooling process begins the blood flow goes inward to protect the bodies’ vital organs. As the blood emerges, again to the surface of the skin it once the person is again in the sauna it acts as a pump to bring the toxins to the surface. The skins major function is to protect the body and act as major organ of elimination.
