French Revolution leader Jean Paul Marat
Marat was a friend of Robespierre a member of the Cordelier Club, and the founder member of radical paper L'Ami du people, or friend of the people. Hw was forced into hiding many times as he incited violence and encouraged hatred. Elected to the National Convention, he advocated radical reforms. After the king's death he was locked in a struggle with the Girondins, and on July 13, 1793 Charlotte Corday, slipped into his bathroom. He was famous for his habit of bathing regularly to alleviate the symptoms of a skin condition.
