In terms of aesthetics it is obvious to consumers that frameless shower doors are the winner against the more traditional framed shower door designs. This is because they look extremely stylish compared to the standard shower door. Apart from the obvious what else makes consumers love the frameless shower doors? Here we explain why they are the choice for modern bathrooms.

There are many varieties when it comes to the installation of the doors. Chose from left hand or right hand fixed panels. The inline panels make the doors suitable for larger openings. The HSK range of frameless shower doors range right up to 1800mm in size, one of the largest in the market. Some shower doors such as the Aqualux Pura shower door even have integrated shelving which is great for shampoos and other necessities. This kind of manufacturing ensures the smooth running of the bathroom on a day to day basis.

Frameless shower doors can also be made as a bespoke option which means they can be manufactured to any height and width. This gives you another option for a suitable shower door which is right for your bathroom. The bespoke shower doors result in your door being the exact style and shape you need in the bathroom. Bespoke shower doors are commonly requested if the door needs to be of a smaller height or cut to an angle. If this sounds like your situation then email sales@wdbathrooms.co.uk for a free quotation.

Shower doors without frames also help to create a more open and airy bathroom. This is especially useful in smaller bathrooms where space is needed to make the most of a small bathroom area. The clear glass with minimum framing reflects light across the room and makes it look more fresh and vibrant. The minimal framework also means fewer places for dust and germs to harbour. The door will still be extremely watertight supplied with the relevant seals to keep the water inside.

So we have concluded that the style is extremely important and one of the first thing that attracts someone to the shower door in the first instance. Although this is essential to the overall design there are other practical features of a frameless shower door which are important and make the difference when it comes to years of happy showering in your bathroom.

There seems to be an increase of people replacing there shower curtains with sleek and elegant bath screens and it’s no wonder why.

Bath Screens provide the functionality of a shower curtain but also provide an extremely modern and minimalistic look. Often featured with a chrome finish they will look great with any bathroom taps you already have.

Bath Screens are available in 4 main styles – straight, curved, folding and sail. Generally, bath screens are fixed to the side of the bath and create a stunning focal point for any bathroom. But if you have limited space you need to try and save as much as you can whenever you can.

Another added benefit of folding bath screen is that they are extremely streamlined and space saving. They can fold away either flat to the wall or just to leave a 90 degree glass panel.

Sail and straight bath screens are ideal for people who have a contemporary theme in their bathroom, the straight and sheer edges of these types of bath screen offer minimalistic design and modern style, perfect to match bathrooms that have bold statements.

Curved bath screens offer a radius curve on the corner, these bath screens are ideal for people with a traditional style in their bathroom. The soft elegant edge can enhance the overall feel of a traditional styled bathroom.

Shower Curtains are renowned for making bathrooms seem cluttered and small, because you have the rail and then the curtain dividing the room, using a bath screen will open up your room and make it feel bigger and also allow the light to flow around the room giving it the feel of openness.

Shower Curtains also have their benefits; they are available in a wide range of colours and styles allowing those creative people to express themselves. They also provide more coverage for the more powerful showers as they can pull all the way around the showering area creating an enclosed space.

So the choice between a bath screen and a shower curtain could be a difficult one as there are a lot of things to take into consideration.

When your bathroom begins to look tired there are simple ways that you can update the bathroom and spend little money.

Have you got an old mixer shower that has an out dated shower head? Simply replacing the tired shower head will give a stylish improvement to the showering area and even save you money in the long term if you choose a newer and greener replacement. Easy clean nozzles reduce lime scale, great for bathrooms which suffer from hard water. Shower heads also come with various spray patterns so the user can choose their specific showering pattern to suit. The older shower heads tend to be one spray pattern so adding one which is a little more advanced gives a more luxurious showering addition.

If your toilet is looking slightly worn then there is little that you can change to update it, however the toilet seat may be something that you can change to update the overall style of it. Soft close seats are all the rage in today’s modern bathroom settings; they offer a quiet and more modernised toilet seat. The soft close toilet seat is great for family bathrooms especially with children who are prone to slamming the seat damaging the toilet and pan in the process.

Another way to update the bathroom in an affordable way is to update the fixtures with new modern accessories. The bathroom accessories will not only update the bathroom they will also add more functionality to the bathroom layout. Towel rings, soap dishes and tumblers will organise even the smallest of bathrooms. Bathroom mirrors are a bonus for any bathroom and provide the perfect finish for a vanity unit or basin area. There are many sizes and styles and even mirrors with lights are the latest fashion for additional lighting in the darkest areas of the room giving a more spacious feel.

Colour scheme is also important and plays a huge part in the overall feel of the bathroom area. If you have paint in the bathroom then a fresh lick of paint will update the bathroom instantly. White and creams can loose their colour over a period of time so refresh them to instantly brighten up the area. Wet wall panelling is also another way which you can highlight a certain area of the bathroom. There are many colours to choose from to suit your preferred style and taste.

There are many ways in which you can update the bathroom in simple affordable steps and here are just a few ways you can help your bathroom to come alive once again.

Shower screens are popular due to more modern and minimalistic bathroom taking the lead in the last few years. Not only do people want modern bathrooms they want ultra-modern and minimal intrusion into the bathroom. Shower screens contribute to any modern bathroom through their sleek style and translucent properties.

Shower screens come in a range of styles and sizes so you can be versatile with your choice. The sizes start from as small as 700mm and range right up to 1400mm. The shower screens are constructed from 8mm glass giving them a highly robust finish. All of the walk in panels are supplied with a stabilising bar. The bar is used to keep the panel stabilised once installed. The shower screens can be used with both a shower tray and installed straight onto the floor if you wish too. The shower screens look amazing when used in wet room environments as it really opens up the whole space. Low profile shower trays also look really stylish if a wet room is not an option.

Some wet room panels are supplied with a towel rail which creates extra storage for towels. This kind of additional storage is great as the towel is easily reached after showering. If you have a larger bathroom space then walk through panels are the ideal feature shower. These types of panels have two stabilising bars as they do not attach to the wall at either side. The walk through panels are very unique in design and offers a large showering area to enjoy. The walk though panels are ideal to use within a wet room area.

The shower screens are also versatile in terms of installation and can be installed either left or right handed. This will make it flexible if you have a sink or basin the pathway. Depending on where the shower is this will help it to work together right as well. A modern mixer shower will give the shower a real luxurious feel and will be highly practical for a busy bathroom.

It’s coming around to that time of year again, the spring clean, but it’s always baffled me why people wait for spring to do their big clean? Surely each time you clean your bathroom you have some sort of routine that you follow and carry out to a fairly consistent standard each time? If you’re thinking no, then you have found that little pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and are about to learn how to get a sparkling bathroom every time in a few simple steps.

You’ll need a few things before you get going but you will probably have most if not all of these items in your house anyway, a pair of rubber gloves, 3 different rags to wipe with, window cleaner, disinfectant, toilet brush, sweeping brush, mop and bathroom cleaner. By following a set routine it will make sure no area is left and you will become much faster over time.

Begin by clearing everything off the floor, vanity, Bathroom Furniture and shelving then sweep the floor. Always sweep first to get rid of any unseen mess on the floor such as hair and dust and the brush will pick up more when it is dry. Next spray the bathroom cleaner on the shower and shower head ensuring that everywhere is covered especially in the corners.

Pop on your rubber gloves and leave the shower for now, it’s best to let the bathroom cleaner soak for a while to let it really work its magic. Pour your disinfectant in your toilet making sure you get it right round the rim as that’s where all the germs build up. Grab your toilet brush and give the toilet a really good scrub down, once you have done this make sure you rinse the brush in boiling hot water before you put it back. Once the inside of the toilet is nice and clean close down the lid and give it a flush then begin to clean the outside of the toilet with bathroom cleaner, wipe down with your cleaning rag. Take another rag and spray the inside of your windows with the window cleaner then wipe clean, repeat the same process for the bathroom mirror.

Were nearly finished now so not long to go, apply the bathroom cleaner to the basin and unit then wipe down with your final rag until clean. Remember the shower you’ve left to soak all this time? Well now it’s time to wipe that down, once clean you can finally mop the floor of the bathroom. Last but not least put all your items back into their correct place, add in some fresh clean towels and stand back and admire. By following these simple steps you will realise how quick it can be to get a shiny new looking bathroom and it won’t be such a chore, meaning you will be able to clean thoroughly throughout the year instead of just spring.

Baths have a large range of variety or shapes, styles and features for you to choose from and it can be tricky choosing the one that’s best for yourself without knowing the benefits.

Firstly, you need to decide what shape bath you want; there are 4 main shapes of bath these include corner, single ended, double ended and a shower bath which include P shapes and L shapes.

Corner baths are a very popular choice because they are the best way to save space in your bathroom; they are very sleek looking and also provide a large about of bathing space.

Single ended baths are standard baths with taps at one end; these baths are also idea for smaller bathrooms. These baths are slightly constricted providing narrow width but making up for it in length giving you plenty of room to lay back and relax.

Doubled ended baths have all the benefits of a single ended bath but also allow 2 bathers to share the bath giving a romantic bathing experience.

Finally shower baths are also a popular choice for people who have smaller bathrooms and require a bath and a shower; these baths include a bath screen and offer extra showering room within the bath giving you a comfortable and revitalising showering experience.

The straight styled baths are also available with added features such as anti-slip, grips and different styled legs. Anti-slip is pretty self-explanatory, it’s fitted on the bottom of the bath and provides extra comfort while resting in the bath by stopping you from slipping down.

Grips are attached to the side of the bath, these are of extra benefit to the less abled – providing a sturdy handles for the person to get in and out of the bath with ease. Grips are available in a range of styles allowing you to match them to the rest of your bathroom design.

Finally, certain baths are available with different types of leg sets, although these legs are not visible once the bath panels are fitted, they allow you to fit baths on awkward joist positions and over pipework.

So it’s important to think about your bathroom installation and personal requirements before purchasing your bath, because once its fitted it will cost a small fortune to change.

When remodelling the bathroom the main consideration is the right bathroom suite and the shower. After the main products and décor have been selected then it’s highly probable that you will be looking through the internet and bathroom showrooms for the right mirror.

It may seem like the easiest decision in the world to choose a bathroom mirror, but believe this it isn’t. There are many considerations when it comes to choosing your bathroom mirror it is not as simple as choosing one and adding it into the bathroom. A bathroom mirror will say a lot about your personal style as it is the one thing you can be adventurous with especially if your bathroom is smaller than the average bathroom. Wall space is fundamental in many bathroom so make the most of it by adding an eye catching bathroom mirror.

A framed mirror comes with a frame around the whole mirror; this is more of a traditional option. They are pretty easy to install and offer a minimum fuss addition to the bathroom. Stylish and simple to hang on the wall. If your bathroom is more modern and open then a mirror without the frame may be the more popular option. The frameless mirror gives a more streamline and gives the illusion of a floating wall hung mirror design.

Led mirrors are very much in fashion at the moment. The led lights give extra lighting and create a more technology advanced feel to the bathroom. The sensor touch operation simple means that the user moves their hand and the lights will automatically turn on. The lights also give the mirror more interest rather than just a standard mirror design.

Bathroom mirrors are available in so many styles and sizes that the choices are endless. The best style for your bathroom can be quite confusing and time consuming to figure out. Before you decide too soon or harshly then the best thing to do is to research the availability of the style you want and what works for you. Measure the available wall space and how the mirror will best work for your needs. Does it need to be landscape or portrait? Choose from square, oval, round, oblong etc there are so many styles you can choose one to suit you! Magnifying mirrors are also great for a really close up view of the face especially useful when applying make up or shaving.

Bathroom mirror cabinets are also catching on fast in the bathroom industry. This is due to the fact the mirrored cabinet also offers extra storage in the bathroom. The sliding or hinged front mirror design is highly practical and gives the bathroom added space to store toiletries and other essentials. The internal shelves are hidden so that they are completely out of sight after they have been used. Fog free mirrors are also great to have installed when showering as the glass will not mist and prevent you from having a look after your bathe or shower.

The essentials when choosing your bathroom mirror, measure and then decide not just on the style of the mirror but based on the practical features that the mirror can offer you and your bathroom. Style isn’t everything but achieving both style and function is achievable with one of our bathroom mirrors.

Walk in showers are taking over the traditional baths in many UK bathrooms. The reason for this is simple, due to many reasons we can see the advantages of the walk in shower rather than the traditional tub.

Walk in showers firstly are versatile and can be supplied in a size to suit yourself and your bathroom. There are many styles to choose from as they differ depending on which manufacturer you choose to go ahead with. Many manufacturers make walk in showers already configured so you can basically buy them off the shelf as they are. Twyford bathrooms are an example of a manufacturer who makes a walk in shower with a curved and straight panel. The sizes available are 1400mm x 800 and 1400mm x 900mm. This walk in shower is supplied with a bespoke shower tray to accommodate for the curvature of the panel. The panels are made from 8mm glass and this walk in shower carries a lifetime guarantee. Another walk in shower which is popular with the UK market is the Aqua space walk in shower this again is available in the popular 1400mm sizes and also the larger 1700mm size which is great for bath replacements. The Aqua space is unique in that it is supplied with a wooden foot board giving a luxurious touch to the walk in shower style. The glass is also pre treated in a coating to reduce lime scale and soap residue build up.

Now when you are looking for a walk in shower these styles may not be for you and also the sizes may not accommodate what you are looking for. If this is the case you can create your very own showering area. Our minimalist walk in showers are an example of how straight glass panels can be teamed with a low profile shower tray to create the dream walk in shower you require. We advice that around 400 – 500mm opening is available to exit and enter the walk in shower, obviously this depends on the person who uses the walk in shower. When looking at a walk in shower it is important to remember how practical the shower will be not just the aesthetics of it. If you need a shower tray which has to be raised then when choosing a minimalist walk in shower this is possible. Why would you need to do this? Well when adding a leg kit to the shower tray this will raise the tray up allowing the installer to put all the pipe work beneath the tray. The leg kit can be simply added to the tray for an overall easier installation.

Walk in shower are fast replacing baths, they are easier to clean as there are no hidden corners where dust and debris can collect. When cleaning the shower area the person doesn’t have to bend over like they would have to when cleaning the bath. As people are staying in their homes for much longer the need easy mobility throughout their home and this applies to the bathroom as well. Walk in showers offer a more minimalistic and streamline styling as a result of their minimal framing and slim line tray profile. The finishing touch to any walk in shower is the shower that goes in it. If the bathroom is more minimal in style then choose one of the built in valve options for the mixer showers. This will conceal all of the pipe work and again add to the modern feel of the bathroom. If you are busy family wanting a shower that is fast and efficient then an electric shower may be for you.
