Shower Baths / P Shaped BathsFor a smaller bathroom, where space limited, a shower bath may create the perfect solution, combining the relaxation of a conventional bath with the spaciousness of a shower enclosure. Shower baths are also known as ‘P Baths’ due to their shape, they feature the dimensions of a traditional bath, with an extended end, which forms the basis of a showering area, although some are just more spacious at one end than the other, and bow into the bathroom centre. Shower baths are shaped as such that means they are multi-functional, and remove the need for a shower enclosure separate to the bath, therefore reducing the number of items in your bathroom and maximising space. Shower baths can also be fitted with a shower screen. Similar to a standard bath screen, this prevents splash back from the shower entering your bathroom and also provides a long-lasting, quick drying, minimalist alternative to a shower curtain. A screen is recommended on a shower bath, as they are designed specifically to fit the manufacturers’ bath, and have a unique shape, which would be impossible to replicate in a shower curtain rail. Additional to the screen, a selection of shower baths also feature the option of an extra screen panel, which can be opened to enter and use the bath, or closed to create an enclosed shower area. The handing of your shower bath will be dependant of where in your bathroom you require it to be fitted, and this flexibility allows you to plan and avoid conflicting items in your bathroom; all shower baths can be purchased either left or right handed. Ideal Standard, Europe’s leading bathroom brand creates their range of products based on function solutions with cutting edge design. Their vast array of bathroom products allows the individual to add their own flair to their bathroom blueprint. Also, as they are a renowned manufacturer, the quality of their porcelain products is to the highest degree. Featured in their range of products are two options of shower baths; a conventionally-shaped ‘P’ bath, and also an extended bath. Firstly, the traditionally shaped ‘Space’ shower bath is part of a range which focuses on creating solutions for bathrooms with space limitations. This P shaped bath offers an optimum showering area which truly reflects the collection’s name. Secondly, the studio bath, designed by award-winning Robin Levien offers a twist on the shower bath design, with an augmented showering area but featuring the illusion of a standard bath shape. This creates a showering experience which is more sumptuous and spacious, at a reduced cost to their P shaped version. Niagra are another manufacturer who features a shower bath in their range. The Sanelle version is supplied with the screen and door as standard, creating the illusion of a shower enclosure within a bath. The doors are sealed by a unique magnetic mechanism that creates a truly watertight fastening. The bath itself has an extra-deep tub for added luxury and indulgence, plus the useful extra width in the showering area. History of Soap in the American Colonies |
