Eight Bathroom Accessories That Make Your Life Easier

Let’s face it—we’re all a little crunched for time, and in the bathroom, most of us are crunched for space as well. However, there are a few simple, inexpensive accessories out there that can make your bathroom time a little more organized and efficient—and even make your bathroom feel more luxurious and spacious. Here are six of our favorite bathroom accessories.

Pivoting paper holders. Ever have that spring-loaded rod jump out of its holder and skitter across the room when you’re trying to change the toilet paper roll? We admit, it’s not the best design—and that’s why we love pivoting paper holders. Instead of being built with a spring that makes it tricky to change, these paper holders are hinged—so when you want to change the roll, just swing the rod open, remove the empty toilet paper roll and slide on a new one. It’s easy—and it won’t get away from you.

Curved shower rods. Got a shower that isn’t exactly luxuriously large? Curved curtain rods will give you as much as six inches of additional room in the shower. These rods curve out, allowing the shower curtain to drape away from the wall and giving you extra elbow room. They also give a feeling of luxury; once exclusively seen in expensive hotels, you can now buy these rods at many hardware and home supply retail stores.

Heated towel rails. Want to feel like you’re in a luxury resort—even when your bathroom isn’t exactly state of the art? Replace your ordinary towel rails with the heated variety. There’s nothing like having a warm, fluffy towel ready when you step out of the shower. These are relatively inexpensive, don’t take up much extra space and can add considerable comfort to your bathroom.

Larger toothbrush holders. The problem with most toothbrush holders is that they don’t keep up with the times. Many toothbrush holders built into bathroom walls and available in stores are too small for today’s flex-action toothbrushes—and they don’t come close to accommodating electric toothbrushes. Look for a toothbrush holder that has holes large enough to fit your family’s toothbrushes, and your sink will be less cluttered.

Liquid soap dispensers. That bar of soap in the shower isn’t ideal. It gets scummy and messy when left in a soap tray. There’s also always a danger of slipping on soap bars dropped in the shower. Keep your shower clean, scum-free and safe by installing a liquid soap dispenser at a level everyone in your family can reach without bending over or standing on tiptoes. Shower baskets. If your shower or bath is cluttered with soaps, shampoo bottles and toys, get organized! A variety of metal and plastic shower baskets can be found designed to hang on your shower head or fit into the corners of your shower stall. These are a great way to keep bath toys, soaps, and other bath and shower amenities out of the way and well organized.

Shower radios. Addicted to your morning talk shows? Don’t wait until you’re out of your shower to listen to them. Digital AM/FM shower radios are available at many bath and houseware retail stores. These radios are designed to be shower safe and waterproof, and many are built to hang on the shower curtain rod for easy and convenient storage. With one of these radios you can sing along to your favorite songs and listen to your favorite stations while you’re washing up.Inflatable bath pillows. The bath can be a great place to relax—but it’s not always the most comfortable place in the house. That can change with an inflatable bath pillow, designed to cushion your head or back while you lounge in the bath. Many of these pillows have an inflated core and a soft cloth cover, so they feel as comfortable as a bed or sofa pillow—and they make the bath much more comfortable and luxurious.Your bathroom can be a place of luxury, convenience, and efficiency—even if it doesn’t have top-of-the-line fixtures and amenities. Pick up a few of these inexpensive accessories, and you’ll feel like you’re in a luxurious spa retreat every time you enter the bathroom. With space-saving, luxurious and fun accessories like these, chances are you’ll want to spend more time in the bath.
