When we think of bathtubs, most of us think of the typical five-foot wall-to-wall unit you find in hotels and houses all over the country. Many don't realize how many options there are-and how much fun you can have choosing the right tub. Whether you're redesigning your bathroom or simply replacing an old tub, here are a few tips for buying your next one.
Consider comfort. Most people think a tub is just a container to soak in. But you can find tubs with built-in armrests, seats, ergonomic back support, massaging jets, and many other features that can make bathtime a relaxing and comfortable experience. When choosing your next tub, go to a bathtub showroom and actually get into the tubs you're considering-just to see how they feel. Choose a tub that's comfortable and that offers you support where you need it.
White isn't your only option. There are many different colours you can choose-everything from beaten copper to black. If you want to give your bathroom a unique look, choose a colour that most people wouldn't expect in a bathtub. The tub is the most prominent and central feature of the bathroom; sort of like the bed in the bedroom or the dining table in the dining room. Make yours stunning and unique, and your bathroom will definitely have a sense of style.
Style matters. Speaking of style-when most people think of style and bathtubs together, they think of clawfoot tubs for those who like the antique look and the simple wall-to-wall tub for everyone else. As a matter of fact, you have a lot of options when it comes to the style of your bathtub. Styles include Greek and Japanese; sleek, modern pedestal tubs; tubs designed for corners or alcoves; and free-standing tubs of all shapes and sizes.
How many to a tub? Do you plan to always use your tub alone, or is there someone else who might like a soak with you? Two-person tubs are excellent for couples, and provide much more room to relax together than the typical one-person tub. When picking your tub, don't just think of it as a place to wash up-consider other possibilities as well.
Size and fit. If you're petite, you might not want a very deep Japanese or Greek-style soaking tub-the water is supposed to come up to the neck of the bather, but it might be a bit high if you're small. In addition, someone with long legs needs something longer than the standard five-foot tub to be comfortable. Larger bathers might prefer an extra-wide tub as well. When considering which tub to buy, make sure you take the size of the people using it into account. Sometimes, choosing the right tub means finding a comfortable compromise between several people of different sizes.
Medical requirements. The elderly, the handicapped, and those with special needs often find the bathtub to be hazardous-and the design of the typical bathtub isn't particularly friendly to caregivers helping someone to bathe. If you have difficulty getting in and out of the bathtub, or if you're living with someone who does, choose a tub specially designed to be more user-friendly. Some bathtubs have grab rails positioned at different levels to aid in balance, while others have built-in side doors so the bather doesn't have to step over the wall of the tub to get in or out. A three-sided tub is easier for a caregiver than a tub in a three-sided alcove, as the caregiver has access to the bather on more than one side.
How you plan to use your tub. Do you like to sit and read in your tub? In that case, you may want a shallower tub, or one with arm rests or a flat space to place a book without getting it wet. Do you enjoy taking baths for two? A two-person tub can accommodate two bathers comfortably. If you love long soaks and being immersed, a deep soaking tub in the Greek or Japanese style may be perfect for you. Consider how you enjoy using your tub the most, and choose a tub that fits your needs.
The right bathtub can completely change the personality of your bathroom. And you have more options than you think. You can find larger and smaller tubs than the standard size; different designs that accommodate antique, modern, and vintage tastes; and colours and materials that will look good in any bathroom design. Choose a tub that fits your bathroom, your bathing habits, and your style-and you'll be able to make your bathroom into a relaxing retreat.

I've always meant to write to you for your A1 service when I ordered my Ella V&A bath from you last year. The bath was delivered in packaging that was robust and in perfect condition. What's more it was on time.
